Who we are
Swathi Raman
Love what you do, do what you love. Find your Ikigai – your life’s purpose. Hi there, my name is Swathi , currently in my late 30s and seeking answers to what makes life meaningful and worthy. I love nature, arts and music. Here’s my life in slightly more detail for you. 1985-2007 was all about childhood and learning filled with its own sets of challenges and highs that made the ride totally worth it. Those challenges, like most of us have done, were overcome through sheer willpower and of course the undying support of family and friends. Like they say, each one’s journey is a different cup of tea and in that sense, I have no regrets about mine. 7 is supposedly the number that represents completeness and perfection which is why from 2007, I have divided my life story in 3 parts comprising seven years each.
2007 – 2014 – These 7 years were all about a high flying career in product and retail marketing with a happy marriage sandwichedin between. Life in the corporate was truly intense where a lot of unlearning and introspection took place. Retail marketing and branding were the primary spheres that I was involved in. These 7 years also involved travelling that opened my eyes to diverse cultures and people. My tolerance for uncertainty and the inquisitiveness to learning more deepened with these trips. And the urge to pursue something that I truly loved did surface occasionally however with no real sense of direction.
7 years through again, this set saw me as a full fledged , dedicated homemaker and mother to an adventurous, free willed 7 year old. These years also saw me go through the dilemma that most women are faced with – should I resume work? Or pursue what I like? This wish to help and motivate people to lead more fulfilling lives filled with mindfulness and wellness always lingered around my thoughts. I set aside time to learn more about nutrition, meditations and also practice quite a bit of yoga. The plunge back into the corporate world did not seem to lure me enough and I had made up my mind to help make people’s lives better in the best way that I could.
I gained my certification as a Health Coach and that was when I set a goal for myself that I need to carve out a path for myself in the wellness field as an effective coach. This was when I got talking to my soul sister Amreeta who shared similar goals and thus after weeks and months of contemplation and ideation, was born our brainchild , SOMA – an initiative , where we endeavour to bring out the best in people and help them lead more fulfilling lives through effective habit change.
As the next 7 years dawn upon us, we are filled with hope and happiness and look forward to bringing contentment and peace person by person, step by step. SOMA. It’s about You.
